Reiki is thankfully thriving as a therapy, although I am little concerned things have gone a bit off course. Because there is so much on offer, I do not envy the newcomer to this healing space, as the choice seems endless in these, shall I say 'awakening' times? Reiki, at its roots, is not a healing modality. It is a by product of a disciplined practice of personal energy cultivation and simple spiritual practice, born of Tendai Buddhist practices and other esoteric teachings that Mikao Usui trained his adepts in. As a result of these practices, the followers were able to carry out healing treatments, so it was just a natural by product of the other training. The 'system' of reiki , if you can call it that, underwent many changes on it's way to us, in order to make it palatable to the western mind, coming via Dr Hayahsi and Hawayo Takata. I hope if you are interested in finding out more about it, you will look into the evolution and present day use of reiki.
When I first learnt reiki I wasn't a total newcomer to energy healing but I didn't quite know where it might take me or how it would help me. 22 years on, it is the one constant in my life that is always with me and can be relied upon to help me in my darkest times. Reiki is in many ways a method of connecting with something greater than yourself, without knowing what that is. It is the great mystery of life, and it will reveal to you whatever you are ready to accept. It is still growing in popularity, as the spiritual hunger that many feel without knowing it is being somewhat satiated by energy healing and other beliefs systems such as paganism, witchcraft, natural magic etc. which has had a resurgence in recent years. In this rampantly digital age, with AI on its way to fooling more and more of us, more easily, there appears to be an even greater kick back to simplicity, living off grid, going back to basics, decluttering the mind of the endless drone of social media memes and just..... putting your feet on grass, listening to the birds and wondering at the stars.
It is in the natural world that we find our rest, focus and calm. This is when we connect to the wider, natural web of creation. How many media weary celebs are following the trend of getting back to farming, living in the wild, creating an outdoor retreat of some kind? There are also some very encouraging initiatives to look after our natural habitat, such as ways to remove micro plastics from our oceans and seas. Chris Packham has championed the mobile phone company Eco Talk, which uses funds to create thriving habitats for wildlife in the UK. I was delighted with that and signed up right away. We absolutely need to give back to this planet that has provided so much and that we, as a human species continue to relentlessly take from, pollute and damage. With my 60th birthday looming, I also decided it was time to join the National Trust, as I love to visit Sutton Hoo, which is thankfully very near to where I live!
I encourage you to look for the ways to contribute to our re-wilding, before it is too late. This is the way forward, if we are to survive as a species, to find a way to give back to what has sustained us for so many millennia. I am minded of teachers at school, who would berate anyone who dropped litter in the classroom, often saying 'Would you do that at home?' The natural world is our natural home and every creature that lives upon it, relies on us to behave in a responsible way. Living in harmony with the natural world and the other life on earth as much as we can, and trying to cause no deliberate harm is key to our survival.
I have found great personal spiritual nutrition from going back to basics, as I see it, and taking up some shamanic training, now that I have a found a teacher that really makes me feel that I can re-learn what it is to be an authentic human being and draws on some psychotherapeutic treatment models. And as I am talking about shamanic practice, I am referring to the type of human that Kevin Costner learns how to be in the film 'Dances with Wolves' to put it simply, doing the best I can to live in harmony with other creatures and humans (not so easy, that one!).
Although I will not dare to call myself a shaman at any point, I do see that this training and some of the practices within it will help me immensely in the way I practise reiki, drumming therapy and crystal healing and I hope to use some of the techniques going forward, with sufficient practice, and when the need arises.
So what is up? I am currently offering reiki in a few forms:
Japanese style tailored reiki treatments
Reiki channeled in an intuitive treatment style to clear energy imbalances, improving physical healing and bringing calm to the mental/emotional body.
Angelic reiki healing
Calling in healing from the angelic realm and ascended master healers
Using rhythmic drumming infused with reiki to transform dense energy and transport you to your inner healing space.
Additionally:
Crystal healing sessions
With particular focus on chakra cleansing, energy body clearing and re-balancing. If you love crystals and want to find out how they can create an alchemical chakra reset for you, then this is where I can help.
Indian Head Massage
For releasing muscle tension, grounding and mental/emotional healing. Great to help you sleep and ease niggling headaches, it is the shortest and most effective massage for overall wellbeing. There are also bits of reiki factored in, to boost the treatment!
The Umana Technique
A new ascension energy healing technique, which helps bring you into your fullest spiritual alignment. A short activation can be combined with a reiki treatment, before booking the full activation session.
I have also had a personal change of name and have tweaked my therapy website as well, so it should be easy to find, so if you want to have a look it is now called www.lesleyshea.co.uk
I do still indulge in social media shenanigans now and again, so you can still find me on Facebook and Instagram. The land of Tik Tok is one I stepped into for five minutes, and had to turn right around from again (I am flagging that I am safe now!). Bluesky seems to be just a nice idea, but I am there very sporadically if you want to connect. I have tried my hand at a readings channel on YouTube and Rumble, where I am slowly building some videos, despite the steep learning curve that involves and loads of mistakes, but then an Aries loves to try new things :) Drop me a message on WhatsApp if you would like to connect with me
